How to pray a prayer for focus

  1. Name where your mind actually is. “Help me focus” is vague. “My mind is on the argument, the email and what I'm having for dinner” is a prayer God can answer. Tell Him where the pieces are.

  2. Ask for one thing. Paul's phrase was “one thing I do.” Pray to see the single thing that matters right now, then pray for the steadiness to stay on it.
